We Malaysians are a funny bunch; we tend to celebrate everyone’s festivals. Hari Raya, Deepavali, Christmas , you name it, we celebrate it (triple the holiday!). However, there was one festive season that we missed out last year during the year of the dragon, so this year we have decided that this special day should be celebrated to bring in a prosperous new year!
|Wishing something good during "Lou Sang" seems to have more effectiveness!|
That’s right! we Malaysians had our own local reunion gathering to celebrate Chinese New Year!
|Having fun doing "Lou Sang"!|
The event was held at Solid Grounds church home where a fellow Malaysian is currently staying. The gathering was very promising with about fourty members joining us for the celebration.
Being a Malaysian event, food is never out of the picture, and because it was a CNY potluck event (Potluck = different people bring one dish each thus resulting everyone gets to eat multiple dishes), we had an overflowing supply of food from the members.
Throughout the event, we had Chinese movies showing, card games, and also mahjong sessions. The highlight of the whole event was the premiere of our homemade “yee sang”! With chopsticks in hand, everyone was excited to “lou yee sang” for a happy and prosperous new year.

Laughter was the only thing that can be heard in that house that day, and this event has certainly brought us closer together as friends.
Though it was a cold winter’s day, our hearts were warmed by the family that we have here. Wishing everyone a happy new year!
